The Grands Letter (GLJ)
Gene L. Jeffries, Th.D. on October 5, 2016 7:03 am (CST)Dear Grands,
Acts 27:22-25, “’Yet now I urge you to keep up your courage,
for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.
23 “For this very night an angel of the God to whom I belong and
whom I serve stood before me, 24 saying, “Do not be afraid, Paul;
you must stand before Caesar; and behold, God has granted you
all those who are sailing with you.” 25 ‘Therefore, keep up your courage,
men, for I believe God that it will turn out exactly as I have been told.’”
There were no night-vision goggles in Paul’s day. It may have been
a blessing that there weren’t. Sometimes fear comes as much from
what we can see as from what we can’t. Further, it is difficult to
encourage others when we are fearful ourselves. Yet, Paul was the
encourager onboard that ship. Ever since his experience with the
Glory of the LORD on the Damascus Road, he was confident that
the LORD was His strength and guide. So, he was able to say, “I
believe God that it will turn out exactly as I have been told.”
Paul’s kind of faith doesn’t come from a now-and-then kind of
fellowship with God. Christ was Paul’s life! He said, “To me to
live is Christ…” (Phil. 1:21). Be encouraged today! And be an
encourager of others. Your LORD just doesn’t make mistakes.
Oh, how we love you guys!
