The Grands Letter (GLJ)
Gene L. Jeffries, Th.D. on October 8, 2016 8:20 am (CST)Dear Grands,
Romans 7:19-21, “For the good that I want, I do not do,
but I practice the very evil that I do not want. 20 But if I am
doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one
doing it, but sin which dwells in me. 21 I find then the principle
that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good.”
Why did I do that? Did you ever ask yourself that? You
knew better, but you did or said it anyway. Have I ever!
Well, Paul had the same experience. He was impulsive,
and for a time could not figure out why he was doing what
he did not want to do. Then, it came to him: “…sin…dwells
in me.” Yes, Paul was a Christian, but sin continued to
live within him. But the fact that sin indwells us is not an
excuse to sin. In can all be overcome by the Holy Spirit,
who also lives within us. We just need to stop and think
before we act. Stifle your quick impulses and ask the
LORD what is right in His eyes. Then you can be assured
of doing what is right.
May the LORD Jesus lead you in all you do today!
He loves you and we love you, too,
