The Grands Letter (GLJ)

Dear Grands,

1 Timothy 6:17-19, “Instruct those who are rich in this present world

not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but

on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. 18 Instruct them to

do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19

storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future,

so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed.”

Riches mean different things to different people. To the worldly, it means

“more money”; but to those who are focused on Christ, it’s “good works” and

“generosity toward others.” The worldly’s riches are uncertain. What God

bestows upon us have eternal certainty.

Love you all,

Dear Grands,

2 Thessalonians 1:11-12, “…we pray for you always, that our God will count you worthy of your calling,

and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, 12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus

will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Everything we think or do should bring glory to our LORD Jesus Christ. Just as a mother

loves to hear her baby coo, our LORD loves to hear His children pray. I have kidded Nana

so much about “carrying out the trash,” that the nurses now kid both of us about it. It’s

just a joke, and we always laugh about it; but seriously, I praise the LORD for the strength

to do it. (You’ll know what I mean when you get to my age.) Even when things seem to go

wrong, the LORD is working for the good of His children and for His own glory!

Love you all always,

Dear Grands,

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17, “For this we say to you by the word of the Lord,

that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede

those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven

with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the

dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up

together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always

be with the Lord.”

Love always,

Dear Grands,

Colossians 3:16-17, “Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you,

with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms

and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts

to God. 17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the

Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.”

Dwell is an imperative verb here. It is a divine mandate. Richly means abundantly.

Teaching and admonishing are also imperatives. We are, therefore, to “fill up to

overflowing” with the Word of God, and let it overflow into the lives of others.

Then, we are to sing and be thankful for all the LORD is and has done for us.

No idleness here, huh? You bet!

We love you undyingly,

Nana & Dado III

Dear Grands,

Colossians 1:15-17, “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.

16 For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible,

whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities– all things have been created through Him

and for Him. 17 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”

The Bible says that “no one has seen God at any time” (John 1:18; I John 4:12). God here is

the Father. Yet, the Father has revealed Himself in and through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus

is the Creator of all things; and all things were created for Him. A scientist I met in Hawaii

confirmed that scientists called the unseen “glue” that holds everything together the
“Colossian force.” So, even “global warming” is controlled by the LORD God in Heaven.

Love you all,

Nana & Dado III
