Dear Grands,

Mark 9:22-24, “’It has often thrown him both into the fire and

into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, take

pity on us and help us!’

23 And Jesus said to him, “If You can!” All things are possible

to him who believes.’

24 Immediately the boy’s father cried out and said, ‘I do believe;

help my unbelief.’”

We crossed the Mexican border at Laredo, Texas. It was our

first mission trip, and we were driving. Our car was a comfortable

Oldsmobile that I used to joke saying that it would pass anything

on the road except a filling station! It had the most accurate gas

gauge I’ve ever had on any car I’ve owned. And when the indicator

said “Empty,” it was empty! The roads were long and lonely. The

engine gulped the gas furiously, but there was no station for

refueling in sight. The gauge pegged “Empty,” but the engine

roared on. I could not believe it! Eventually, we came in sight

of a filling station. Ah, all is well.

The father of this demon-possessed son was at his wits’ end!

He poured out his heart’s desire to the LORD: “If You can…”

The LORD repeated the man’s words, “If I can.” No, it’s not

whether I can; it’s whether you can believe! And as it was

then, so it is for us today. “All things are possible to him

who believes.” Whatever you face today, the LORD is able

to deal with it. The problem lies not with whether He can, but

whether you and I believe He can. There is incredible power

that is never revealed because we fail to truly believe!

We love and pray for you daily,

Nana & Dado III
