Dear Grands,

John 1:1-12, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word
was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that
has come into being.
4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.
5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
6 There came a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him.
8 He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light.
9 There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know
Him.
11 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God,
even to those who believe in His name…”

There is much more to the account of Creation than the above 12 verses. But, there is none anywhere clearer or more succinct. Before there was anything, there was God. He pre-existed all things. And before Creation, darkness prevailed everywhere.

“The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface
of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the
waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light” (Gen. 1:2-3).

The “light” in these Scriptures is used in a two-fold meaning. In the Genesis verses, light means what we mean when we say, “It is light outside.” Darkness is the opposite of that light. Yet, the verses in John’s gospel refer to Jesus Himself as the Light. Until mankind meets Jesus, life itself wrangles and wrestles in meaningless darkness. Life has no meaning without Jesus. He alone gives meaning to life. More accurately stated: Jesus is Life! That’s why John the Baptist, cousin of Jesus, came to introduce Him to the world.

Skeptics abounded in biblical times, just as they do today. Still, the Father’s requirement for our understanding of what we need to know, begins when we accept Jesus Christ as His sacrifice for our sins. Have you accepted Him? Have you truly trusted Jesus as God the Father’s Sacrifice for your sins? A simple, yet truthful prayer of faith is all He requires for your acceptance into His spiritual family. Pray it in faith and trust Him.

“LORD, I know that I am a sinner. I know I’ve done many wrong things
in my life. I’m sorry for my sin. I know that Jesus loves me, and that He
died and rose again to save me from my sin. Right now, in my heart, I
willingly turn from my sin. By faith, I receive the LORD Jesus Christ as
my Savior. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Heartily yours in Christ Jesus,

(Dado III)
