The Grands Letter (Matt/GLJ)
Gene L. Jeffries, Th.D. on December 6, 2022 7:04 am (CST)Dear Grands,
Matthew 2:4-13, “Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. They said to him, ‘In Bethlehem of Judea; for this is what has been written by the prophet:
6 ‘AND YOU, BETHLEHEM, LAND OF JUDAH, ARE BY NO MEANS LEAST AMONG THE LEADERS OF JUDAH; FOR OUT OF YOU SHALL COME FORTH A RULER WHO WILL SHEPHERD MY PEOPLE ISRAEL.’
7 Then Herod secretly called the magi and determined from them the exact time the star appeared.
8 And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the Child; and when you have found Him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship Him.”
9 After hearing the king, they went their way; and the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them until it came and stood over the place where the Child was.
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.
11 After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
12 And having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, the magi left for their own country by another way.
13 Now when they had gone, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, ‘Get up! Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to destroy Him.’
Someone once wrote —
“English is a strange language;
It’s as strange as it can be;
It killed the ancient Romans,
And now it’s killing me.”
Sometimes what is said with specific intention is misunderstood because the words are unintentionally twisted or simply put in the wrong place. This, I fear, is what happened when the Magi said, “We have seen His Star in the east…”
It was not the star that was in the east; it was the wise men. Thus, it might better have been stated, “We in the east have seen His Star.”
Where you currently are in life may not be of first importance; but it is of vital importance whether you have found and accepted Him! The wise men were wise because they sought Him. They were wiser still when they found Him.
Have you found Him? Have you honestly sought Him? The Bible teaches that He is seeking you!
That was true of the Magi, too. When they found Him, they worshipped Him.
It is the Father’s desire that we, too, worship His Son, Jesus. Is Jesus the object of your worship? There is no time like the present to yield your life to Him! Just pray with me –
Dear Lord, I know that I am a sinner and have done
many wrong things in my life. I know that Jesus loves
me and died on the Cross to save me from my sins.
Right now, I yield my heart and life to You. Forgive
me of my sin and come into my life and save me.
In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
Now, thank Him for His forgiveness and for His love and for saving you.
Start reading the Bible every day. You will experience a difference in your
life. His love will take charge of you more every day. You will sense the
difference, and you will commence to love those whom you could not
love before.
Heartily in Christ Jesus,
(Dado III)
