Dear Grands,

Genesis 7:11-16, “In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month,
on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great
deep burst open, and the floodgates of the sky were opened.
12 The rain fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.
13 On the very same day Noah and Shem and Ham and Japheth, the sons of Noah,
and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark,
14 they and every beast after its kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every
creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, all
sorts of birds.
15 So they went into the ark to Noah, by twos of all flesh in which was the breath of
life.
16 Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded
him; and the LORD closed it behind him.”

It’s difficult, if not hurtful, to look back upon some of my childhood days. I had a bad
habit of slamming a door when I was closing it. I can well recall my mother saying,
“And don’t slam the door!” I’ve often wondered how she (or I, for that matter) would
have reacted to life aboard the Ark.

My mother grew up on a farm, so she was well acquainted with all kinds of animals.
The only thing I remember her hating were rodents, specifically mice! If she had
known that they had been brought on board, she just might have refused passage!

Exactly how all the animals (and rodents!) were coaxed onto the Ark, is not revealed.
Noah’s sons might have been ordered to gather them, or the LORD Himself might
have divinely prompted them to enter, as if on their own. There are multiple things
about the Ark experience that we will never know this side of eternity. Yet, the very
fact that the LORD wanted them spared in order to re-start life on the other side of
the flood, shows His love and forethought.

Hundreds of years after the Great Flood, the LORD sent His Son, Jesus, as the
means of rescuing people from death and hell before He ends life as we currently
know it. We come into His rescue through a simple faith and trust in Him. Noah
was allowed to rescue his family by means of the Ark. God sent His Son to be our
Ark of Safety.

Through the death of His Son, Jesus, we can be rescued from the ultimate storm.
We have no need to fear anything –only to trust in the saving grace of Jesus by
means of the cross. Do you know Him? Salvation is more than church membership.
It’s more than being morally clean. It’s trust, faith, in the LORD Jesus Christ alone!
Do you know Him? You can. Ask Him in prayer to forgive your sins; and trust Him
to do it! He will make Himself known to you!

Heartily in Christ Jesus,

(Dado III)
