The Grands Letter

Dear Grands,

II Samuel 22:48-51, “The God who executes vengeance for me, and brings down peoples under me,
49 Who also brings me out from my enemies; You even lift me above those who rise up against me; You rescue me from the violent man.
50 “Therefore I will give thanks to You, O LORD, among the nations, and I will sing praises to Your name.
51 “He is a tower of deliverance to His king, and shows lovingkindness to His anointed, to David and his descendants forever.”

It is not often that we encounter one who will praise the LORD for His deliverance! I was thoroughly pleased, however, to hear the Republican Candidate, Donald Trump, give praise to the LORD for the preservation of his life from the assassin’s bullet. Christians everywhere acknowledge such miracles as “from the LORD.”

Many months ago, I phoned a well-known, conservative biblical scholar, who is a close friend of Donald Trump. If anyone could assure me that Trump were a truly born-again believer, this pastor could do it. He did. I don’t at all hold with the use of swearing or foul language of any sort; but we must be careful in seeking to wean people off of their old habits. The LORD will do it. We must be prayerfully patient and allow Him to work.

Some of you will remember when Harry Truman was President. He said and did some things that many (I hope many) Christians would not condone. Yet, the LORD used him in endorsing use of the Atomic bomb which ended the war with Japan. We’re all under the Supreme Authority of the LORD Jesus Christ. We simply don’t know the answers to the many questions that surround us. Yet, we will when we see Jesus! And that may not be very far off.
