The Grands Letter (GLJ)
Gene L. Jeffries, Th.D. on February 9, 2017 8:23 am (CST)Dear Grands,
2 Timothy 2:11-13, βIt is a trustworthy statement:
For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him;
If we deny Him, He also will deny us;
13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful,
for He cannot deny Himself.β
Paul often spoke in positive-negative statements. Just as
electricity requires both a positive charge and a negative
charge, so does the Christian life. ~ This is a reliable word,
he says. Here then are the two positives: 1) If we died with
Him (and we did), we shall also live with Him. 2) If we patiently
endure (and we will), we will also reign with Him. Then, he
give us the two negatives: 1) If we say βnoβ to Him or deny
Him to others, He will deny knowing us. 2) If we are faithless
in being and doing what He desires and has given us to do,
He will remain faithful. Why? Because the LORD cannot
be or do what is contrary to His holy nature. ~ Think of it
like this: Have you ever done anything contrary to what
your parents desired of you? Did your parents then do
what they had told you not to do? Of course not! Had they
done what they told you not to do, they would be denying
the very thing right they had desired in you. While this may
sometimes break down with human beings, it never breaks
down with God! Always trust Him and do His will. That
always brings His blessings!
Love you; and may the LORD make us faithful always,
