The Grands Letter (GLJ)
Gene L. Jeffries, Th.D. on October 27, 2016 7:10 am (CST)Dear Grands,
Ephesians 5:15-16, “Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise,
16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil.”
From all appearances, you have most of your life ahead of you. As you get older,
the one thing that stands out above all else is time. When Queen Elizabeth I lay
dying, her last words were, “All my possessions for a moment of time.” Paul
was nearing the end of his time on Earth when he wrote the words above to
Timothy. “Be careful how you walk.” Walk is a euphemism for life, just like sleep
was a nicer way of referring to death. Be careful! It’s imperative! –a command!
“Making the most of your time” means to “rescue it from loss.” Why? What’s so
Important about rescuing time? Paul says, “…because the days are evil.” The
Greeks had two words for evil: ????? and ???????. The latter word is the one
used here and it translates as “evil producing.” The world is not going to get better.
Its evil keeps multiplying. What are believers to do? Be very careful to use your
time wisely. It won’t come back. The time it took you to read this far, will never
be again. Look carefully at the attachment above. Instructions are included.
We love you more than you’ll ever know,
Nana & Dado III
