The Grands Letter

Dear Grands,

Job 5:6-12, ”For affliction does not come from the dust, nor does trouble sprout from the ground,

7 For man is born for trouble, as sparks fly upward.

8 “But as for me, I would seek God, and I would place my cause before God;

9 Who does great and unsearchable things, wonders without number.

10 “He gives rain on the earth and sends water on the fields,

11 So that He sets on high those who are lowly, and those who mourn are lifted to safety.

12 He frustrates the plotting of the shrewd, so that their hands cannot attain success.”

Everything contained in the Scriptures is true: the good, the bad, and the ugly. The impeccable honesty of the Scripture’s Ultimate Author is the guarantee. Trouble is everywhere! Some, of course, arises from nature; yet, in many instances, the lack of human forethought has contributed to the devastation brought about by nature.

Other troubles arise from mankind itself. Just when things are beginning to look good, something arises to inhibit the good, and devastation becomes the ultimate result. Yes, “man is born for trouble…”; but what is he to do?

Job found himself in a dilemma from which none of his friends could extricate him. Yet, Eliphaz, one of Job’s friends, comments: “”But as for me, I would seek God, and I would place my cause before God, Who does great and unsearchable things, wonders without number.”

Is it not possible that the counsel of Eliphaz is valid for our day? –even for your life? Is the God of Job and his three friends not still available for each of us when troubles arise and surround us? “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you, but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Mic. 6:8). He…does great and unsearchable things, wonders without number.”

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Prov. 3:5-6).
