The Grands Letter (Zech/GLJ)

on December 14, 2023 6:38 am (CST)

Dear Grands,

Zechariah 1:1-6, “In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Zechariah the prophet, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo saying,
2 ‘The LORD was very angry with your fathers.
3 ‘Therefore say to them, “Thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘Return to Me,’ declares the LORD of hosts, “that I may return to you,” says the LORD of hosts.
4 “Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts, “Return now from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.”‘ But they did not listen or give heed to Me,” declares the LORD.
5 “Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?
6 “But did not My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, overtake your fathers? Then they repented and said, ‘As the LORD of hosts purposed to do to us in accordance with our ways and our deeds, so He has dealt with us.’”

There’s an old adage that says, “You can’t do wrong and get by.” I’ve never traced the origin of that statement; still, it would be my best guess that it’s true. The Revelation (22:11a) says, “Let the one who does wrong, still do wrong; and the one who is filthy, still be filthy.” In other words, there does come a time when forgiveness is simply not possible.

Were there not times in your youthful experience when an adult had warned you again and again of the problem you would encounter, if you continued to do something what you were doing? And when you continued to go against your adult counsel, you suffered?

It’s much like that with God. He warns against involvement in sin; and unless you relent and obey Him, He gives you over to whatever you were doing, and you pay the ultimate price!

Nothing you can then do will aleviate your problem. You simply “cannot do wrong and get by.” Let me urge you to surrender yourself and all you possess to the LORD who is in charge! It’s the only way out –the only way to receive His blessing!

Heartily in Christ Jesus,

The Grands Letter (Zeph/GLJ)

Dear Grands,

Zephaniah 1:7-10, “Be silent before the Lord GOD! For the day of the LORD is near, for the LORD has prepared a sacrifice, He has consecrated His guests.
8 “Then it will come about on the day of the LORD’S sacrifice That I will punish the princes, the king’s sons And all who clothe themselves with foreign garments.
9 “And I will punish on that day all who leap on the temple threshold, who fill the house of their lord with violence and deceit.
10 “On that day,” declares the LORD, “There will be the sound of a cry from the Fish Gate, a wail from the Second Quarter, and a loud crash from the hills.”
11 “Wail, O inhabitants of the Mortar, for all the people of Canaan will be silenced; all who weigh out silver will be cut off.
12 “It will come about at that time that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and I will punish the men who are stagnant in spirit, who say in their hearts, ‘The LORD will not do good or evil!’”

I am of sufficient vintage that I remember when television was the “new kid on the block.” Simply watching it “snow” from as far away as Kansas City was an evening’s entertainment! So, when
I say that we now have a plethora of preachers on TV, I know whereof I speak.

But, have you noted how many TV preachers (the great and the
gruesome) are emphasizing the Second Coming of Jesus Christ? Yes, some are “thin” in their theology, but many are clearly “reading” the signs of the times!

I have preached for years on the Second Coming of Christ; now I can see it virtually “upon us.” There is absolutely nothing prophecied in Scripture that stands between our generation and
the Rapture of the Church. The next major occurrence is Jesus’ coming in the clouds of the sky to “catch away” (rapture) His church.

His church is of no particular Christian denomination; rather, it is
the ingathering of all truly “born again” believers. Recent news
carries the account of more than 7,000 Muslims in Egypt who have come to faith in Jesus Christ! Many of them had visions of
Jesus beckoning them to be truly “born again!” That has occurred in our own country, except that it has not made the news.

I understand that this Grands Letter is reaching scores of persons who are already born again. Still, there are other readers who are not. Let me urge you to seriously consider
yielding your life to Him. It’s quite simple: pray and ask the
LORD’s forgiveness. Be sincerely sorry for your sin and tell
Him so! Ask His forgiveness for everything you done that was
outside of His will. Be specific! Be sincere! Believe that He has
truly forgiven you. How will you know whether He has? You
will know. That’s His responsibility, and He never fails!

Heartily in Christ Jesus,

The Grands Letter (John/GLJ)

Dear Grands,

John 14:1-6, “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.
2 “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.
3 “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
4 “And you know the way where I am going.”
5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

My earthly father possessed many gifts. One of the most
memorable was that of poetry. Most of his poems were spiritual
in nature. The one I think I like the best was put to music by my
mother. You are blessed that I cannot sing it for you, but the words will, I trust, be a blessing to your life.

“When the Master went away, He said, “Don’t sorrow.”
I go you mansions to prepare;
I will come again for you some glad tomorrow;
That you may be with Me over there.

“Go, tell the world the sweet old blessed story;
How I bled and died upon a tree.
I conquored death and then went Home to glory;
I paid the price on Calvary.

“Many years have passed since Jesus went to Heaven;
Those disciples are among the blessed;
And I hope some day to reach that lovely haven,
When He says, ‘Come Home unto thy rest.’”

Chorus: “When the Master went away,
He said, “I’ll come again some day;
Be ye faithful ‘till that day shall come;
Keep your lamps all trimmed and bright;
If the Master comes tonight,
Will you hear Him say to you, ‘Well done’”?

They will both be blessed to know that others have come to
know their Savior through this simple Grands Letter Ministry!
God bless you, especially at this CHRISTmas Season! This
just could be the season He comes again!

The Grands Letter (Lam/GLJ)

on December 10, 2023 7:43 am (CST)

Dear Grands,

Lamentations 3:17-25, “My soul has been rejected from peace; I have forgotten happiness.
18 So I say, “My strength has perished, and so has my hope from the LORD.”
19 Remember my affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and bitterness.
20 Surely my soul remembers and is bowed down within me.
21 This I recall to my mind; therefore, I have hope.
22 The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
24 “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I have hope in Him.”
25 The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him.”

We all experience the absence of peace and happiness from
time to time, causing us to lose hope that anchors us to the LORD. The loss of friends is sometimes the loss of hope. Sick-ness itself often crowds out joy; yet, the lovingkindnesses of the
LORD never cease.

Hope anchors to the soul. He is our strength and stay: a very
present hope in time of trouble. “…I trust in the LORD. I will
rejoice and be glad in Your lovingkindness, Because You have
seen my affliction; You have known the troubles of my soul…”
(Ps. 31:6-7).

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your
own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Prov. 3:5-6).

Heartily in Christ Jesus,
